I played 1,000 ultra games today and I think I injured my hand :(

far too long to quit right? Just cut back for 3-4 days and you should be good. stretch your wrists every clock hour while you're playing.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments on the palm side of the hand. When the median nerve is compressed, symptoms can include numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and arm.

Looks like you are addicted to chess. Did you consider seeing a psychiatrist and going to a rehab center ?
Looking at the profile of the first post. The profile shows Longest streak: 687 games in 24 hours.
Any ways, the op wanted a solution ( @ytse89 ) ... Probably will not get pinged, because the user name did not show up in the list when I pressed the @ sign. It all depends on the settings a person has in their preferences.

The solution that works for me: Change posture while performing repetitive tasks. Repetitive movements need to be staggered out. It reduces the duration of a repetitive movement, while still being able to do the same routines.

Example: 1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1. (Repetition with zero change in posture) = 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1. = Painful routine task.
Solution: 1,2,1,3,1,4,1,5,1,6,1,7,1,8,1,9,1. (Staggered repetitive movements) = Less pain, with the same number 1 routine task.
The other numbers 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 are the changes in your posture, between the routine task. Even that change, does not need to become a repetitive movement.

Staggering my routines (with different postures) has helped me to avoid the negative side effects of repetitive movements. In a way, it was buttering up those repetitive movements, so that they became more appealing and less harmful.
