Finally hit 2100 blitz on lichess thanks to Jeremy Silmans endgame book

Finally hit 2100 on Lichess Blitz after 10 long years of playing chess a tad bit

2200 is my next goal!

I've been playing chess for quite a while now. I started playing it seriously on chessbase and chess.com all the way back in 2012, wherein I started with a 900-1200 rating.

Damn! I've come a long way and it feels like a big milestone to hit 2100.

I was stuck in the 1900 to 2100 zone for quite a while now (close to 3 years), and could barely break out of the 2000+ zone.

So how did I hit 2100? Jeremy Silman's Endgame Book! Period!

This book really helped improve my endgame. I never knew how to convert won endgame positions because I didn't understand the 'technique' that a lot of these professional players use.

I'm halfway through the book and I already see tremendous improvement in my gameplay. I'm also using Rook and Pawn tactics trainer as I'm a bit weak on that end of the spectrum. I also need to improve my Queen and Pawn endgame technique too.

But for starters, I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you're stuck in the 1900 to 2000 range.

My next target for this year is 2200 in blitz which I hope to attain once I finish the endgame book.

I don't think I will be playing any more blitz games on lichess until I finish this book. But I definitely will be training hard on puzzles, and reading a bunch of chess theory.

I also realized that sticking to three to four openings for both sides works really well in your favor. I will create a detailed blog on the openings I use as well, in case you're interested.

I used to blog a bunch on chess.com but I guess lichess is the new go-to platform. More power to lichess.org!

Until next time!

Cheers!
